Saturday mornings, while working, the BBC Radio 2 show
Rylan on Saturday makes for a pleasant distraction for me. On it the congenial and charming host ("Hi, Gorgeous!") hosts a segment, or segments, titled "Couch Potatoes". Trivia is something I like very much. My high school buddy Donald and I drew great pleasure from playing NTN Trivia. We often would win a round or two each Saturday night. On one particular pub beer-fueled evening my buddy and I came in ninth in all of North America after one of these rounds. It was always fun seeing "Davros" placed on the video screen after a match's points total.
Let me get to the real story....
One Saturday morning, after a few months of playing along with Couch Potatoes, I blurted out, to no one, "What's with all the bleedin' film and television questions?! That's all there ever is." Another month or two passed: "Oh. That's right. It's called 'couch potatoes'. How could I have missed that?"
Don't answer that, please.
